The Bible also says it is wrong to eat pork, grow a beard, get a tattoo. Keep in mind that there are different versions of the Bible (King James, New Revised Standard Version, New International Version, Living Bible, and many others) and with different versions each one was interpreted by people. Those who have studied the oldest existing Bibles written in Aramaic and Hebrew say that most English translations are mis-translated in English versions. Christians that use one sin as an excuse to take exhilaration in intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution are a shame to god and destined for eternity in hell! Anglican leaders from around the globe reiterated their opposition to the "victimisation or diminishment" of gays and lesbians, asserting demonising and persecuting them replaced into "completely against Christian charity and common suggestions of pastoral care". "we are saying that no person ought to ought to stay in concern because of the bigotry of others." The mormons poured hundreds of thousands into forcing by using prop 8 in CA: to limit gay marriage. In August 2010 the courtroom held that to be unconstitutional. On 15 June 2011 the San Francisco courtroom upheld that determination because of the fact it violates the constitutional rights of voters. this is now finding forward to the suitable courtroom verdict this is expected to uphold the early courtroom determination. If that happens then gay marriage will grow to be criminal everywhere and which would be marriage and not civil partnership! The loving god works in mysterious techniques

You are what you are, and you are loved for what you are. I'm sorry that the answer seems dense, but please read through it -- and contact me directly by email if you want to discuss it further.

How can someone be born gay?

In a word, genetics. there is a great deal of scientific evidence that it is inborn. Beyond scientific evidence there is anecdotal evidence.

The fruit fly study is actually fairly conclusive. But the pheremonal and eye blink studies are also compelling. I've included links below for those that are interested. Beyond that, research increasingly suggests that at least for males, Xq28 is the crucial gene. I am saddened by this, because I believe that once it is proven, gay people will be wiped out through selective abortion – with the full support of the fundamentalists -- and I think that is sad, because given the number of species in which homosexuality exists (see Dr. Bruce Bagemihl's book "Biological Exuberance" from St. Martin's Press) I think it serves a purpose.

Now as to the theology behind your question: The Bible speaks out directly about a lot of things. It says that the world has corners (Isaiah 11:12) and that it sets on pillars (I Samuel 2:8). It says that God accepted a human sacrifice -- he may have prevented Isaacs, but he allowed a general to sacrifice his own daughter without even a murmur, the text giving tacit support to the idea that having given his word, the man had to kill his child. (Judges 11:30-39). The Bible clearly maintains that genocide is often commanded by God (Joshua 10:40-42 and I Samuel 15: 2, 3 and 8) and that, after killing all the adults in a race, taking the female children as sex slaves is permissible (Numbers 31: 17-18).

The God revealed by the Bible is not only both a liar who doesn't know the natural laws of his own world, and a monster, as shown above -- but he has no real regard, even for his own people, whom he forces into cannibalism (Leviticus 26: 27-29) when he is mad at them; or his priests, whose faces he wipes with dung (Malachi 2:1-3).

It is not only gays and lesbians that are hated by biblegod. This monstrosity also suggests killing kids who eat or drink too much (Deutoronomy 21: 18-21), and says that if he is angry with parents he will kill their children (Leviticus 26:22) and he blames things upon children whose great-great-great grandfather committed the things being blamed on the kids (Exodus 20: 5)

Putting it in a word, biblegod is a monstrosity, a horrific demiurge of evil. Something that even he admits ( Isaiah 45:7 ) [Furthermore, the word used in Hebrew for evil, the word ra' is widely conceded to mean a number of different things: It can mean "wickedness," "mischief," "bad," "trouble," "hurt," "sore," "affliction," "ill," "adversity," "harm," "grievous," and "sad." So no matter what particular interpretation is given of this word -- it has profoundly negative implications. The idea that god is sovereign over the affairs of man makes this even worse, because no matter what interpretation it has, it indicates that biblegod deliberately does harm.]; evil about which he sometimes changes his mind (Exodus 32:14). What a font of unchanging morality -- that almighty God can decide to kill an entire people, and then be talked out of it by a human servant... Furthermore, it is obvious, if God can change his mind, then even if the Bible were not full of errors and horrors, you could not trust that God had not changed his mind on any other issue in it.

So, yes, I suppose if one wants to take as truth a book that says that beetles have four legs instead of six (Leviticus 11: 21-23) and that rabbits chew their cud [which they do NOT] (Deuteronomy 14:7) and if you are willing to, having accepted it as truth, overlook the fact that biblegod routinely changed his mind (I can show you other instances if you wish) then yeah, I suppose its words would matter and in that case, yep, the Bible condemns homosexuality with the same word for abomination it uses for someone who eats shellfish.

I on the other hand, while a Christian (as in Christ follower) am NOT a literalist, and do not think that a book of bronze age myths owing heavily to the Sumerian and Egyptian mythology in the Old Testament and to a collection of pagan faiths, particularly Mithraism in the New Testament matters at all. Nor do I think that the Jewish "Adversary" is really a "devil" that can affect anything at all -- despite the use that the Roman Catholic church and all its schisms has put it to.

It doesn't matter what religion you are, whether Christian (which is what I am by the way), or whatever. If you take the time to read the Holy Bible, you will see that God destroyed a whole city because of homosexuality, paganism, blasphemy, and other things, and that city was Sodom and Gomorrah.

Secondly, in Leviticus 18:22, the Bible says " You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination...". And in Romans 1:27, the Bible also says " Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned with their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.." Homosexuality is an abomination to God. An abomination means "A cause of abhorrence or disgust." God is disgusted with any act of homosexuality.

(and for the person who answered above about God being gay...HE ISN'T. If you were to say that He was, you would be calling Him a liar, AND His Word a liar. And surely, I dont think you would be doing that.)

GOD bless you, and have a joyous day in the Lord. And I hope this answered your questions fully. If not, then I would advise you to pray to God about it, ask Him for yourself..and wait for a reply..

No, being gay is NOT against God. People just say that because they think they have a right over us. Loving another of the same sex is not wrong. Just live your life. If you are a loving and good person who cares who you love? :)

i think it's funny how christians can't agree on whether or not the old testament stuff still applies. when you ask if being gay is wrong, they quote that stuff left and right. but ask why a woman no longer has to stay in a pit during her period, and they say the old testament doesn't count anymore.

i'm pretty sure there's no god, and i am absolutely certain that if there is, he/she/it doesn't give two shiites and a flock about who you have sex with. be all the gay you can be. you really ought to give up being a catholic, though. there's the wrong in your life right there.

Bigotry is against the word of God...Hypocrisy is against the word of God...Passing Judgment on another human Is against the word of God...Hate is against the word of God....
God invented in one instant of creative genius... human sexuality...It is mystical, exotic, bizarre, sensuous and exciting-God never invented anything dirty.
God Created Human sexuality as a kind of vast Disney Land of the senses. He made it free from shame and guilt, and a delight to every human. He made it a Joy to practice, and a joy to watch, a cornucopia for the senses.
God Built a compelling sex drive into every creature, God made it irresistibly pleasurable, wildly joyous, and innocent merriment...Needless to say it was a smash hit.
If God created Human sexuality in all its wonders and glories...how can anyone...the Roman Catholic Church included..say that it is wrong?

Nobody knows what God's word is as the bible has been touched and changed by too many human hands. Don't let others ignorance, hatred or a book, religion, or anything else stop you from listening to the gifts that we have all been given to help us through our own lives.......Go with what feels right in your own heart and conscious and find peace within yourself.

Joyous Blessings and Peace!!
