Republicans pander to the Christian community, they pretend to have Christian values to get their votes. The conservative Christians preach that homosexuality is wrong. The republicans , who obviously don't believe that, simply latch on to this belief and make it a moral cause to stop the gays. They win elections on issues like gays, abortion, prayer in school etc. while they could care less about those issues they remain extremely important to them as a control tool in moving their voting base to the polls. If the republicans revealed their true selves they could kiss their base goodbye. All that matters to Republicans is power and money. They will lie, cheat, steal, and hide behind God until they get caught. And then they will still lie, cheat, steal and hide behind God in an attempt to weasel out of it.

If you aren't gay then it might be very, very difficult to understand why anyone who is gay hides "in the closet." I've been there; I know. And yes, it might also be very difficult for you to understand why some gays are actually very deeply ashamed of being gay.
And Republicans have sure as hell not been the only ones who have pressured gay people to be "closeted." In case you didn't know, every single state legislature in the country had a statute banning "sodomy" about 46 years ago. That sure as hell couldn't have been only the Republicans' doing. As of 1993, Democrats held the White House, the Senate, and the House of Reps., and they still couldn't pass a law to authorize the President to lift the ban on gays in the military. And in 1996, about 2/3s of the Democrats in Congress voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act.
"Compassionate conservatives should embrace gays ...."
Speak for yourself.

i imagine that there is a distinction between passing judgement and comparing human beings's existence. might want to I draw close out with gangbangers because i do not want to be judgemental? i'm in chance of get shot that way. i believe that homosexuality is a sin, yet i don't think of that I choose human beings for that sin. I have my personal sins to pressure about. I have had some gay aquaintances, acquaintances even. i don't think of there is something incorrect with befriending a gay. I is in basic terms not attending any parades although. certainly i have considered in basic terms as many or more effective non-Christians communicate trash about gays as Christians. i imagine it really is a societal component that diverse youthful men contained in the U.S. attempt this because it makes them experience, nicely, like men. that is asserting their manhood or something, an same way having quite loud automobile stereos does. The Christians that wood funerals, and are outwardly hateful in route of homosexuals are quite disgusting to me. I have severe doubts about their salvation, (yet then it really is passing judgement). they seem to hate more effective than they love. in spite of the indisputable fact that, i don't think of that the Republican Christians who do not approve of homosexuality and gay marriage are interior an same boat as the different.

i am liberal but you need to realize that not all republicans are gay. in fact more gays are democrats. The republicans who are homosexal are simpily hypocritical.
That is a point you can make. don't stoop to the level of many republicans I have heard by make useless generalized statements. attack their policies not personal things like gay closet republicans. And belive me there are plenty of polocies to be attacked.

Maybe because Karl Rove's father was Gay and he has felt so much confusion about that that he's pushed laws and ideas to social conservatives to make the lives of gays miserable.

Because it goes against everything they stand for. Bible, family values, truth and everything virtuous. By denying what they are the sin is even greater because of the knowledge of "the truth". By being hypocrites they are only hurting the "true believer".

here's the deal, although not yet eligible to vote, I feel with the Republican party. I'm also a Catholic, and that comes first. As far as I can tell, it just ain't right. I can't support something I think is wrong, and that includes abortion.

because republicans are the party of "traditional values"
read for your self and think about it.
"A moral code and behavior based upon the Old and New Testaments... We are committed to living, as far as it is possible, by the moral precepts taught by Jesus Christ and by the whole counsel of God as revealed in the Bible."

They are the religious right remember?
Yet they are in the closet, the vice president shoots someone and no charges are brought against him.
Others are scamming people out of money, Nay, Delay, Abronoff, Ralph Reed (religious right guy) Foley.
