I do not support the death penalty, no matter who the person is. Is there anyone out there who normally doesn't support the death penalty, but thinks that Saddam Hussein is being punished correctly?

Sorry- Hanged not hung. I really wish I could get some input from a person living the "cushy" life in maxium security prison living in a closet for the rest of his or her life.

I think he should abide by the laws of the land he abused. I know a young man who's whole family (save him, his mother, and a few cousins and an aunt) were desimated by this man's laws and policies. And why were they anialiated? They were of christian faith not muslim. I have no problems with any belief system, when it does not suppose it to be the only and supreme one!

I will not judge you by your faith system if you not judge me by mine. His is abiding the laws of his land and HE helped CREATE those laws.

I do NOT support the death penalty as the justice system exists today. I can see myself supporting the death penalty, but only on the reason of an exact certainty. Today, several hundred people convicted, and sentenced to death have been found not guilty and freed because of DNA evidence. Because we as a people can make such a horrible mistake as to convict and possibly execute an innocent, then I say let us not do something which we can not take back. Death is rather final, while kept in a cell still means freedom if the evidence shows the wrong person was convicted. We can not take back death. Even though I know Saddam did some horrible things while in power, I still see no valid reason to kill him. I'm for life in a 6x8 cell... I just can not see myself putting a person to death... And until I am ready to pull the trigger myself, I just can't buy a death penalty as a solution to a problem.

My reason I don't think he should be hung is because I'm a Christian, and I think that the sooner he dies, the less time he has to maybe come to Jesus. But I would be more supportive of putting him away for life if the jails today weren't so cushy. I hear that more money is spent on the average prisoner than on the average old person who is on medicaid. That doesn't seem right to me. And is it true that prisoners these days have Internet access, access to cigarettes, and cable TV (all luxuries)?

I don't think torture or death penalty are the right way to go I mane if he gets hung people are going to get mad and more problems will start I think they should put him in prison for the rest of his life. but they would need to make sure he doesnt escape..that could be a problem. But I will never support death penalty!!! its not the right way. they need to take the time to figure out what to do rather than to decide something that horrible. I mean I know insted of prison he should help people to make up for the murder he did. so um yeah those are my thoughts on the subjects.

I feel the death penalty is a lighter sentence than life imprisonment. The death sentence provides a lesser time of suffering.
By the way, people, the proper English for execution by rope is "hanged." To put a coat on a hook is "hung." Do know why it is this way, but the English language has its peculiarities.

He will be hanged. I'm conflicted about the death penalty, but this man tortured and gassed his own people, because they thought differently than he did. Through the whole trial he still thought he was in the right. A man like that doesn't change, and he will never find Jesus (like 1 christian above said he needed time for), great thought, but not gonna happen. This man has no remorse for anything he's done, and if he was still in power, he'd still be free to reign terror on many many people. (including his own countrymen) Hang him. His spirit is evil and scary.

It does not matter what I think. It is the Iraqie court and they get to decide. Saddam asked to be shot by firing squad. I guess that is supposed to be like a martyrs death or something like that. Death by hanging is for lesser beings in the mind of that madman.

They need to think of the worst way of killing a person, say the Iron Maiden or Impaling. Those are the only ones I can think of right now. But yah they should research the worst way to be killed and implement it on that SOB. He is evil incarnate, and deserves to go in the worst way possible. If you dont agree with his sentance, then go and look up some of the horrible things he did to people. You may change your mind after that.

It is wrong. He should be tortured in a high security prison for the rest of his life.
