I met a morbidly obese woman and I called her fat and she started crying. Why did she do that?

She cried because she already knows she's fat, and she knows she doesn't want to be not fat enough to do what it takes to become not fat, but everywhere she turns society is telling her she's a terrible, worthless person because of all this (and if I (and the rest of the taxpayers) end up paying a million or ten dollars for her "metabolic syndrome" I might tend to agree) and then you come around and rub her nose in it like a naughty little puppy. Practice the "three-eyed stare" because it's slightly less confrontational ... she can always wonder if she left some food in a crease somewhere instead of just having to know it's because she's obese. You can't cure stupid, though, so I suggest you stop trying.

OK I am a girl, girls can be really emotional about their bodies, so you need to be careful what you say to girls cause believe me they can be very sensitive! Even if they are fat don't call the fat! That's just being a dork, and sorry to tell you but you are the jerk and unfriendly person!!

You probably shouldn't have said that but in a way you aren't a jerk. Eventually it will become socially acceptable to call a fat person fat. It is the person own fault (99.9% of the time) Just like calling out a smoker for smoking, it will eventually become the same way for fat people.

that is so sad...you should know better...people are people and thats it. maybe what she needed was some encouragement. My mother was once overweight, and i could have kicked some asses if they werent in there cars, for calling her a pig. Obviously, you like being called a jerk...and unempathetic at that.

Well its best to be diplomatic when dealing with people. We would not like anyone to insult us or hurt our feelings.

Even if you see anyone not up to what you expect its best not to insult them by being so direct. As the saying goes "If you don't like something its best to just keep quiet".
