Because they need someone to entertain them for 7 hours. Or they've been stuck in school so they enjoy learning and teaching. Or they ain't smart enough to figure that out.Dude Creepy and stupid. That's why I don't hang around teachers, because it might be contagious.

Believe me, it's not a stupid question. Kids have been asking this question for years and now that I'm a parent, I still can only think that it's to allow you to think rationally, conceptually, abstractly and analytically. It also allows you to develop interests, so that when you do have a choice, it's a knowledgable decision that you're able to make.
It's true. There are some things that you'll never use. But there are others that you'll use sporadiclly in casual conversation, while networking, or maybe finding out of that guy you like (or girl) and you have anything in common. You'll use it in balancing your checkbook, figuring out how many miles you get to the gallon, making that special holiday dinner or figuring out how that catherdal was built without the use of mechanized tools. It will also be useful determining how many typos there are in one of your answers or whether the answer you got was BS or for real. So, see....it all evens out but you won't really get that until your child asks you the same question. :)

Well I used to think that way when I was young, however now that I look back I think I did use most of it.
Math- I used all sort of math from figuring out how much merchandise to order to how much I should charge a client for temporary worker. Someday you may need to read a recipe or even double a recipe. Ohhh the fractions involved in that.
Science- ever try to put together a cardboard box display or a Christmas toy, how about milage for a trip, figure out how to get leverage to move something heavy, know not to mix bleach and toilet bowl cleaner together when cleaning the bathtub, figure out why candidate Barry Goldwater was AU H2o.
History- You must know where you came from to know where you are going. History repeats itself or so they say. See why countries are at war or why they don't get along. Learn why that arrowhead you found in the backyard is cool. Understand the movie The Mummy.
English- well you don't want to leave dangling participles when you speak or you may not impress that Father in law or fit into the executive crowd at work. You may want to understand that classic book you are reading or next great science fiction author's lastest creation. You may want to write a book or even be called upon to write a training manual for work. You may have to write a sales proposal. You might have to write a speech for your Presidential election.
Art- You may want to draw a picture or impress someone with your art knowledge. You may want to understand about colors fors for the pixels on your computer. You may what to stand in awe of the statue of David or the stand in amazement at the perspective that Picasso had of the world. You may want to take a great photograph or have an interesting coffee table book of photos from great photographers.
In order to be a well rounded person you need to pay attention in school. We not only learn the lessons, but are shown how figure it out, memorize, or even someday think of a better solution to an age old problem.
If you can read this thank a teacher.

In grades K-12, young people are taught things to prepare them to go to college. If you never use that info, it is up to you. If on the other hand, you wanted to become a writer of computer games like HALO or if you wanted to be a recording engineer then the math would come in handy. If you ever serve in the armed forces for your country, it makes the difference between lying in a ditch getting shot at, or being in a missile control room shooting at the bad guys from a thousand miles away. It's up to you.

Most people in high school don't know what exactly they want to be in life, so they teach you everything to keep all options open. Also some subjects tie in together. When you get to college, the subjects you take are usually more relevant to whatever field you decide to specialize in....usually....

in the beginning Biology is quite substantial. How else are you going to examine approximately what happens interior you? we won't be able to dissect a human in grade college yet via dissecting much less complicated residing issues we are able to start coaching pupils approximately how our very own physique works. instructors in lots of cases coach subjects from the main common concepts (a trojan horse or insect) and gradually flow in the direction of greater complicated subjects (a frog or pig). I understand that your physique does no longer artwork precisely like a frog's physique, yet you do have many of the comparable inner organs as a frog. via gaining awareness of how those organs artwork and how they look, you get a greater physically powerful information of your individual physique. As for coaching pupils approximately patents, business employer, shares, and commercial, there particularly is not any attempt at the instant made and getting used that tests on those concepts. while i replaced into in college, we did no longer have the severe stakes tests that our young ones are being uncovered to now and that i did study approximately all of those subjects. My Social learn instructors weren't limited in what they could coach. We had to do projects on the inventory marketplace, conserving music of inventory that we "owned" and we had to jot down a record on our findings. We had to examine effective business employer fashions and distinctive business employer concepts by using out time. We even had to exhibit screen commercials in college to purpose to make your recommendations up the concepts they have been making use of to get us to purchase their product. If and while educators regain administration of the learning coverage in this u . s . a ., perhaps then those substantial subjects could nicely be reintroduced into the lecture room. For now, we basically ought to choose they make a attempt on those subjects.

That is an excellent question, I've often wondered that myself! I don't think we will ever know why. You would think that they would spend some time teaching young kids about some real life lessons, such as money budgeting, financing, taxes, stocks, insurances how they work, etc. I hear ya!!!

It is to help you think analytically. For instance, you may not need to use algebra in life, but learning it helps you to analyze a problem and solve it.
