make a game of it... set the timer and tell yourself you only have to work 15 minutes without stopping, no excuses. If you think you only have to work 15 minutes it won't be so overwhelming, and you'll be surprised how much you can get done in 15 min. Then if you are on a roll give yourself permission to finish. But, if you don't want to it's ok as long as you do the 15 min. no exception and no interruptions. no phone, no computer, etc, You can play some peppy music. It's also a good idea to do your 15 min.. immediately when you get home becuse if you think you'll just rest first it will never happen. SET THE TIMER, it works!!!

I don't think you're lazy at all!! You do put in quite a long work day and coming home to housework is probably nauseating. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that you are somewhat depressed and coming home to a mess can just add to the stress. I gather that's why you would just rather go to sleep. If you can, do as the others suggested and get someone in to help get the messy stuff done and once things get a little more normal looking, I think you'll be able to keep it up. If you have a lot on your mind and it feels somewhat cluttered that's what your home is reflecting. Try to get the place cleaned up and you'll feel much better. If you just start by putting things away in the proper place and then do your dishes, you're off to a good start. Good Luck.

Had the same problem, so I hired a maid. She comes in once a week while I am at work. I sleep late on Saturday knowing the house is clean. Just before she comes I remove the chunks (clutter). All laundry goes in the hamper, and counters and tables cleared of mail, magazines and litter.

The gardener keeps the lawn trimmed.

Now I just need a laundress..................

It's not unusual. You work a lot. It is hard to motivate yourself to work on your own project. It has less reward then helping somebody else. Sounds like you are a good person. Try to get up early and clean. It will make you feel good going to work knowing that your house has had some attention

same here. I mopped and cleaned the toilet today, that was a shocker,
Give yourself 1 chore a day. break it down, but if you fail...wait till you get sick at the sight of the dirt and dust gathering. Or you have no clean towels.
Good luck!
