Just so you guys know, I am not the one doing this. But the employeer is basing the wage on age entirely. Someone of a certain age is gaurenteed a wage of X, while someone a 5-10 years younger is gauranteed a wage of X-2

It is completely legal. Whether or not it's a good business decision to pay one person more or the other - that depends on the circumstances (what the job is, what skills the older person brings, amount of motivation and work ethic..etc).

in most cases you can pay people what ever you want .. unions may have different rules, but generally you can pay people any wage above minimum.. for whatever reason
the younger one can ask for a raise.. some bosses take advantage that certain people push for raises and others dont
thanks for saying where you live - I am not familiar with the laws specifically there but man I am tired of people asking specific questions and not even saying what country it applies to

You might have more job experience, but the older employee has more life experience and is worth more to an employer.

I'm guessing here, but I would say no, it is not illegal. At least in non-union situations. Often, an employee negotiates his/her salary. An older person may have an edge here due to experience in the marketplace. They have the experiences to help them know what they may be worth. Is it moral - probably not.

1st i would have to say no it is not.my other question is why are you paying the older person more money when the younger one has more experience?is it cause the one is older and you feel sorry foe that person.i think it does not matter how old a person is if one has more experience they should make the more money that is just what i think.

If it is based only on age and not experience, then it is age discrimination, and is most likely illegal. It could depend on what state you are from and the laws where you live.
