For a teen, if they "love" [Not real love, but infatuation] someone, when will they get over it? Can it go one forever? Or is there normally some limit? If it goes on too long do the feelings eventually turn romantic?

Anywhere from 3 months to 2 and a half years, has been my experience. From a Mormon point of view, I would just say they are feelings left over from the pre-mortal life, and if they start to interfere with normal life then it's time to get involved in other activities. Have a happy day.

According to social science research cited in the book below, though love and infatuation feel similar in the beginning, one way of telling is how long they last. Infatuation can last from days to a year or so, but will hold a relationship together no longer than that. So one way of telling the difference is to give it time...about two years. UNLESS there is also a mutually satisfying sexual relationship which can hold a relationship together 3 to 5 years ... but no longer. So having sex messes up the time test in telling infatuation from the real thing. Infatuation -- which is romantic in a "falling in love with love" way -- CAN be present at the same time as real love (which involves friendship, wanting the best for the other, liking many things about the other and not just a few, etc.); if it's not, it fades.

adults get infatuated too, but you learn that it wears off, its not lasting. i remeber the first boy i was infatuated with. it lasted two years, but eventually i decided love and infatuation are not the same things. but infatuation can lead to love if its nurtured, but even still it will settle down, and will go into a more mature kind of love that is really special.

They usually do not go on forever. It's a normal phase in the process of falling in love.

Infatuation will ceased once you got it (you know what I mean?)and once you learnt of that person character.

it relatively relies upon on you. in case you take a seat around and survive it then you certainly won't recover from it each time quickly...yet once you attempt to bypass forward and bypass out and meet new human beings then you certainly ought to recover from it immediately!
