Why is Green Day so beloved by the English? Is it because Billy Joe sings with a fake Brittish accent? Is their music similar to that of real English bands/artists? Is it because they HATE America even though they are Americans? e.g. in the song "American Idiot" where they call us all rednecks and bash our President...just curious thanks!

Oh and I am American...yeah spread the hate...lol...but I love the English!! :)

No way does he do an English accent when he's singing! And if he's trying to, he doesn't pull it off. The reason I love greenday is because their songs are catchy, and now and then are close to my own emotions, feelings or beliefs about a situation, political policy, or whatever.
I don't hate America or its people at all, and I don't like Greenday because of their apparent dislike towards their own native land. I like them because of their views, and total disregard for what other people think. Its this near-carefree attitude that goes with their music that makes them so popular everywhere.
As for your President? Well.. He brings it upon himself really, doesn't he? Not too many Bush likers over this side of the pond, I can tell you!

Oh sweetness, I understand, I'm in Wisconsin,. but I can't stand our idiot of a president either. He's made my nation both the laughing stock of the world and it's new evil empire. It saddens me that we've fallen so far. I would like to see someone call me redneck to my face, but they can do what they like with words. I know a great many American Idiots and I bash the Shrub too...thank God I've got free speech. Have a good one.

Green Day is popular here it isn't the most popular, but chances are most people here have at least heard of them, I like coldplay, just thought I would say that. And we call people who live in England, English I just wanted to say that but we call you British too. It's not offensive, it's not supposed to be.

Green Day is popular everywhere in the west because they protest against thier own countries policies and do it so successfully and are one of the best bands in the world today - the only people that do not like them are republicans and those that are jealous because greenday is more popular than any band today
