What would you advise a freshman who wants to get into a college such as Yale or Princeton to accomplish or think about doing in the next couple of years?

Publish a book, release a CD, star in a movie, patent an invention, publish scientific research, save a foreign country in some way. If these aren't options, you're not a shoe-in anywhere - you'll just have to get lucky (and be in the top of your class and everything else people will recommend). Yale and Princeton can't accept the top student at every school - they are much more selective.

I would tell you to maintain a 4.0 GPA. Join club ( all the clubs) Run for the president of some organization. Just stay on your P's and Q's. Try and graduate at the top of your class. Also Have perfect attendance. If you can accomplish this then you will get scholarships to hella colleges and your chances of getting in to your college will be a whole lot easier. You should also called Yale or Princeton or go on their web site and see for your self what it takes to get in to their college.

Get active in as many activities as you can. Run for class offices. Sign up to write for the school paper. Try out for school plays. And you have to make top grades. It also helps if you are involved in some serious outside activities such as volunteer work.

Besides perfect attendance and a 4.0 in every class, I'd advise you to research what they are looking for and what the procedures are to be considered by them.

Also if you do not get a scholarship, you would need to discuss with your parents the cost of these types of school since regular grants and loans will not cut it there. They are very pricey schools.

Also I would suggest a back up plan in case you don't get into an ivy league school - have a back up school in mind.

find a decent guidance counseler at your highschool and tell them that, not some gits on the net. Better yet, contact yale or princeton and talk to them about it.

nothing but study study study. get yourself at least a 8.0 gpa, and MAYBE you'll be lucky enough to get in..oh yeah having a TON of $ wouldn't hurt, either. If you don't have the $ you won't be getting in.
