I just opened a free account with AIM Messenging from AOL....it welcomed me, etc....when I go into AIM and sign in...it keeps giving me a message that I cannot get into AIM messaging until I unblock my pop-up blockers....so I did this and I still get the same message........I am completely frustrated and can't get AOL to help me. DOes anyone know how I can get into it? I've even opened an AOL mail account and this doesn't help either. Same old message is to unblock pop=ups....If i did this already what else should I do.....have already restarted computer. THanks

I don't know much about actual AOL Instant messenger, but there is a program called GAIM that you can enter your AIM screen name and password into and it will communicate with other AIM users. Plus instead of having several windows open at the same time you can have tabbed windows, where you can open several conversations and they will all be contained in a tab on one collective window. And if you have Yahoo or pretty much any other instant messenger client, you can make an account on there, and your buddy list will accomodate them and you won't have to have multiple programs running. Just go to http://gaim.sourceforge.net/downloads.php, under the first section that says "Gaim 1.5.0 (Windows)" click the link that says "gaim-1.5.0-no-gtk.exe" then it should bring you through an install wizard and then all you need to do is add an account through it and add your buddies on the list. Plus you won't have all this "unblock pop-ups" crap.

most people have way more pop up blockers than they think, the one you may or may not know about is under tools-pop up blocker-turn off pop up blocker
