I am a British Citizen and I would like to buy a house and lot in the Philippines, can I have the house and lot both registered in my name or must it be registered in the name of a Pilipino citizen?

I have bought property for my wife who is a Filipina. The only way you can have any claim on any property is that the title is in the name of Philippine citizen with an additional phrase ...(your name) being husband/wife of the owner...
That way if anything happens to your husband, the government buys you out for a fraction of your investment. Also, the property taxes are higher than if the title is in one name only.

Seriously, they have a lousy system.
