Wikipedia answers this question easily. It is around 20-22 years. The classification on who is in which generation can be argued depending on your source, names and years can be different. I recently researched this couple months ago because I wanted to know which generation I was in. It sucks to be caught between generations.

The proper definition of a generation is that ONE Century is equal to exactly THREE generations, hence one generation is 33 1/3 years!!!
