I've watched THE 400 BLOWS and 81/2. They are good films but not one's I'd enjoy watching again and again.

My bad, 400 BLOWS is indeed Truffaut, but let's throw Truffaut into that same category as well. If I have a hard time swallowing Truffaut as "great film" then it stands to reason Fellini's work wouldn't suit me either.

You like a movie or you don't like a movie. It is question of likes, dislikes and opinions. You feel something for the movie or not, maybe it touched you, it made you happy, or maybe made you mad or bored.

There are sometimes when you watch a movie because everybody does it and you don't like it.

Almodovar is famous between the artsy fartsy, but I can't stand him and his movies.

The 400 Blows was by French filmmaker Francois Truffaut, not Fellini.

Everybody has their own tastes. For purely subjective reasons, I don't enjoy the films of Ingmar Bergman. When I watch them, objectively I realize that they are masterpieces, but they still bore me.

Just because a film maker is highly regarded doesnt mean that you are going to like his or her films. It is a matter of personal taste.

I find that I tend to like films from some cultures more than others. I particularly like French (Truffaut, Godard, Resnais etc) and Spanish (Carlos Saura, Almadovar) more than Italian and Scandanavian and I like Japanese more than Chinese.

It is also possible to admire some films yet not be moved by them. Fortunately there is enough films to mean that something is going to appeal to someone.
