I think they made the right decision. If he had been imprisoned he could still have an influence through those who are still loyal to him.

Just to comment on some of the comments on here. Statements that the Iraqi people won't change. You shouldn't combine extremists and militias with the general populace- it is like saying all Americans are rich and ignorant. Did you not see the pictures of people celebrating in the streets? They are thrilled- they want something better then what Saddam offered them. The future of Iraq is uncertain and it will be a long time till they reach any stability- but they are on the road to a better way of life.

He needs to be punished, however, I just feel that the whole thing is very sad. Someone else will just take this man's place later on down the road and the whole thing will repeat itself. No matter what you do over there, nothing will work. These people will never ever change, weather they put Saddam Hussein to death or not. But it is time for him to face up to what he did to innocent people.

I favored in agreed after he killed/murdered 150+ Shiites, and besides you'd seen Saddam's statue of himself pulled down and destroyed right? Well, look at those people who are happy for them and the government officials or the terrorists who favored him is just a small percentage of the population. Perhaps it would have a great turning point.

Perhaps the Iraq war would end, perhaps it'll anger them, maybe they'll consider the U.S. as friends or they form a truce or hate. But there will be a change a big change at least.

Question about Saddam Hussein?

Don’t you think that the whole cheap show has not doing to do with justice, but intended as a political ploy to somehow legitimize US presence in Iraq and rally the support of the Shiite majority? Crimes against humanity and mass killings targeting innocent civilians are being committed and basic rights are being denied almost on a daily basis in many parts of the planet and culprits are treated as dignitaries, granted political support and sometimes hailed as model democrats for the sake of political expediency. And we the ignorant fools are applauding the vulgar farce just like our ancestors in the Middke Ages used to cheer the burning of witches and heretics on the stake.

It is quite revolting to witness this atavistic resurge of primitive and morbid cravings for mob lynching. Middle Ages revisited.

Of course S.H. should be judged, conditional upon a fair trial and impartiality on the part of the local politicians. What I don't accept is the exploitation of the event for cheap political gains and the detestable reactions of the ignorant rabble. In a civilized world we do not hurl abuses and insults at convicted murderers

Great if he is hanged. I know for sure that he was not a Muslim. He was an Ismaili like Qaddafi and Bashar Al Asad; all Zionist agent who at times engage in pseudo wrestling matches against USA and Israel. Saddam was brought into power by CIA/Mossad etc. He served USA and Zionist interest well by attacking Iran and then Kuwait. SO if he is really hanged (And not a drama to boost Republicans in elections) it will be good lesson for followrs of tyrants and traitors like Musharraf and Kirzai and others. Saddam had been the member of Anti Islam Bahtist party which was founded by Michael Aflaq; son in law of Israeli Prime Minister Goldameir which raised the slogan of Arab first to divide Muslims.

I agree with Amy, hanging is such an easy way to go for him. They need to research what he did to those 150+ people that he killed and pick the worst thing out of the bunch. His death should not be quick and easy. Make him suffer.

It's infantile. What people don't realize is that no matter what happens to him, the same kind of person is going to take power later on. What we are doing, is killing someone and wasting a bunch of money to throw a country into turmoil, start violence in the country by deviding them, and not changing anything. Good for us. On the other hand, the guy is slime and a murderer.

He deserves it. But I don't think he will be hung anytime soon. They have to go through the appeals process and everything.

It's not painful enough. I think we should shred him feet first. We should pause around waist high to let him think about it.
