Definitely not. I mean what's with that drummer anyway? He plays so much, so fast your ears can't even absorb it all at once. He probably has a studio drummer in the background during their tours or something. No one can play like that in real life.

Then the guitarist? Hrmph, what does he do? In the 70's he was just too technical and yet too creative at the same time. In the 80's he plays with such an "airy" feel that blends in so amazingly well with the songs that you'd be hard-pressed to ever try to duplicate it in a garage band - where's the fun in that? And from the 90's onward... I have some advice, just put down the guitar and let that guy from Greenday take over.

What the Hell is with that bassist/keyboardist/vocalist dude? Why doesn't he just stick to playing one single instrument marginally well rather than play both and sing flawlessly all at the same time in concert?

And his voice!!!?? Like Donald Duck on steroids. I mean, he can sing in a huge range and hit and hold every note like a professional musician. Why doesn't he just give up and sound like everyone else out there?

I mean,. don't these guys realize they should be a 5 piece band rather than a power trio? They just play way too much music in their songs for 3 people.

And don't get me started on the lyrics! "Better the pride that resides in a citizen of the world, then the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled." What the hell is that supposed to mean? Why can't this guy just write about simple crap like drinking and committing suicide? Why do all the lyrics have to be outrageously spiritual and thought-provoking intellectual masterpieces?

So no, they aren't a "good band" or even a "great" band. They are the SUPERIOR band that destroys the Bell curve, creates the standard and should inspire future generations of musicians who have any desire to be nearly perfect.

It is a great band, although those guys are getting OLD! I've seen them in concert twice in the past five years, and they put on an excellent live show!

I saw them at Madison Square Garden back in 1994 (or so). I sat behind the stage, in the first row of the mezzanine. My jaw was hanging down to the floor, in awe, watching Neil Pert play drums.
