Make her a picture board. Go pick out a sheet of plywood, have it cut the size you want, you can get some that have already been sanded, too. Paint it any color you want. Get some twine and some decorative tacks. Have the twine go in all directions to about one inch from each side. They will criss cross each other. Secure with the tacks, make sure the twine is tight. You will end up with a place for your friend to put special pictures. The tight twine will hold the pictures in place. You could even start with the first picture of the two of you in the middle. Extra tacks or small nails on the sides will give her a place to hang her jewelry if you wanted to include it, or she could hang it on the twine. You can leave a half inch piece of twine at the ends and unravel them. Makes it look cool.

If she like music you can turn and old record album into a wall clock, just a couple of bucks at any goodwill with the clock parts it would be just under about ten dollars.
Take a plain picture frame, paint it her favorite color, add colorful beads in the corners or where ever you see fit.
You know those little wooden boxes you can get at walmart or most craft stores?
Paint one of those or decoupage some nice papers, add silk flowers to the top or buttons or even beads, glue some velvet or a piece of remnant material to the inside. Makes a nice keepsake box.

Heres an idea...Go to your local cigar stor and buy one of the wooden cigar boxes. Spray paint it what ever color you want both inside and out. cut out some pictures or small colored pieces of paper. glue the paper or pictures on to the out side of the box using modpodge. Cover the box completely. Do not put anything on the bottom Let the box dry. Once it is dry, shellac the inside and let it dry completely. Once it is dry, shallac the out side and sides. Do not shellac the bottom. Once every thing is dry, cut a matching piece of felt for the bottom of the box. Glue it on with hot glue. Buy some matching stationary/cards and envelopes and put it in the box. Once the stationary is used, the box becomes a place tokeep small items like rings, letters, etc.

Something bright and colorful that she can keep in her room like abstract painting or perhaps making a mobile out of something like seashells.
