1. What were your goals as a teenager? Get a stable job/career, earn just enough to provide for myself and my family, to get married and have kids
2. Did these goals change, as you got older? If so, how? I realize having a job that is stable is vital and now that I actually do have one, it's not just being able to earn enough but I want to grow more professionally. I am planning to take up master's degree spring next year. Also about the marriage subject, been married and divorced once and this kind of made me see things differently. I don't pressure myself anymore about starting my own family. If I don't find the right person, I will choose to remain single and just keep dating.
3. Did you reach any of these goals? Why or why not? Professionally, I did. I believe it's because of hardwork, perseverance and lots of grace from above.
4. Is there anything that you would change? Why or why not? Not one thing. Been through good times and some really hard times but have always chosen to see the positive and learn from these experiences.
5. Describe a typical teenager from your generation. (Ex. Clothes, Popular activities, music) The gamerooms/ arcade started. The 80's is most popular for its music and music videos so you find the teenager dressed like their favorite artists in that popular music video. Fashion-wise, big hair, shoulder pads, tight ankle-length jeans in candy colors (Gosh, I get goosebumps just thinking how I looked like!).
6. What were the pressures that you felt as a teenager? How would you compare these pressures to those that tenagers must face today? In my time, pressure were from your peers about having a boyfriend or fitting in with a group in school. Today, these plus sex/ drugs/ being accepted for one's sexual orientation/ dealing with teenage depression/ even guns in school.
7. Regarding your values, who was your biggest influence? Why?
From what my parents taught me through their examples and from my own experience. Observing people's behavior and how they react to situations.
8. How did the media influence you and your generation regarding appearance, behavior, and your role in society? Just like today, whatever the movie celebrities/ music artists wore became trends to almost every teenager you can see.
9. What advice would you give a teenager today? Listen to your parents, they want only the best for you. Do not let your peers pressure you into anything. Do not hesitate to talk to someone you trust about any doubt/ question/ or if you just need someone to talk to (could be a parent, sibling, school counselor, aunt/ uncle, friend etc.).

1. What were your goals as a teenager?
Hah. Goals ? Let's just go burn one.
2. Did these goals change, as you got older? If so, how?
Yes, but not for a long time. Now, I have goals. Pay the rent, primarily.
3. Did you reach any of these goals? Why or why not?
Which - my goals as a teenager ? Well, yeah.
or my goals now ? Yes, just barely.
4. Is there anything that you would change? Why or why not?
I would change a lot of things. About my life you mean ? Yes, I would not make the same mistakes (although I would make differnet ones.) or maybe not. I have a lot of valuable knowledge and experience, especially from the worst periods.
5. Describe a typical teenager from your generation. (Ex. Clothes, Popular activities, music
Watch that 70's show, it is quite on target.
6. What were the pressures that you felt as a teenager? How would you compare these pressures to those that tenagers must face today?
I think the pressures are the same. Peer acceptance, fears of future, pressure to perform. Same old world, same old problems, different music.
7. Regarding your values, who was your biggest influence? Why?
My parents. Because they were who I looked up to, and trusted to make the right choices. And, they didn't talk much about values, they just lived by them.
8. How did the media influence you and your generation regarding appearance, behavior, and your role in society?
Difficult to answer that. Media coverage of the Viet Nam war, hippies, yippies, revolution, rock and roll, the glorification of turn on, drop out, etc. All this exacerbated the normal teenage rebellion. Created a dichotomy between the traditional lifestyle of the 50's that first influenced me, and the latter influences to take up an alternate lifestyle.
9. What advice would you give a teenager today?
Stay in school. Use a condom. Don't do drugs.

My goal,s was just to finish high school get a job which was a lot easier back then and get married. and yes these goal,s changed as I got older.kids came along and I needed more money so I had to take some more classes to better our live,s And I think I reached my goal,s with no more education than I had . I have had two office job,s but I do not like being cooped up so I got a commercial license and started driving for a living and make more money than I ever could in a office.I do not think I would change any thing if I could.A typical teenager then had bell bottom,s and long hair A hippie! There was,not much pressure on a teen back then not like today.my biggest influence was one of my uncle,s who was a cattle man he all ways encouraged me to do better so I would not have to work as hard as him. As far as the media we just did not pay much attention back then .My advise to any teenager would be study hard because life is hard you need all the smart,s you can when you start your like.

wow - that is alot of questions.
1. to get out of the house and conquer the world as fast as i could.
2. yes. i realized there was more important things than being a go go go Type A+ personality.
3. i have reached 95% of all goals i have ever set for myself. i take big chances in obtaining my dreams.
4. i would not change anything. i live my life with no regrets. everything i have done or have been through is what makes me a wonderful person today.
5. cool - it was the 70's
6. i feel that kids today have the same pressures we did - parent approval, peer acceptance, grades, sports but also have social stresses inflicted by a never stop to smell the roses lifestyle families have today.
7. my grandparents were the influence of my value system. treat all as you would be treated, give from the heart, education is a life-long process - never stop learning, simple pleasures are the best, positive attitude and outlook on life, be passionate about your dreams, show compassion to others in everything you do, let your inner child giggle at least once a day.
8. oh they screwed me up good. i now tend to steer myself away from the structures of constraints that society puts upon us.
9. listen, learn, let go and live . . . love . . . dream, believe, soar and achieve

I was raised as a byproduct of the 1980's and that was influential because of seeing things never spoken of; seeing the shuttle on live tv blowing up into pieces, all my friends were in shock;seeing the berlin wall being torn down; basically all the neo-politics that were just beginning that has shaped what and where the country is at today.
Personally I had no goals because my dad was never around and I could care less about myself; I was so down and tried suicide many times. I eventually got help and am pleased to have that redirection, thanks to a support group called my mom. I wouldn't change anything because then I would not have learned anything as to what I can personally attest to today.
Typical teens back then are no different than now; experimenting with sex, parties and etc. Pressures were tight for everyone, not just the kids and when you get slack from teachers or counselors who didn't do their job, one was faced to " go all out and rebel. "
I cannot in good faith write a huge answer to you based on my personal experiences growing up in the 80's, but I will tell you this... never conform to anything. always question and be yourself, because everyone is worth a chance.
Thank you for reading my answer and giving me this opportunity to do so. Blessings to you for the evening.
