The biggest advantage to term limits is that one person doesn't develop too much control or power. Some Senators have made a career out of it.....Ted Kennedy/Arlen Spectre. They are established in Washington and carry a great deal of political muscle....or control.

That muscle or pull gives them the ability to bring larger amounts of money back to their home states (even for the most ridiculous things), which makes setting term limits a disadvantage to those states that currently have long seated representation.

I am all for term limits. Fresh ideas and politicians that actually go to Washington to represent the people instead of representing themselves....

There are no advantages, the disadvantages are, senility in office, corruption, don't care attitude, the list is too numerous to put it all on here but getting new people in every 6 years would cause dedicated people to get involved. Career politicians are destroying our country and the fact that one senator turned 100 in office and could not even speak or control his bodily functions is proof we need term limits.

Yes, there should be limits. Absolute power corrupts.
These guys actually have the audacity to vote themselves
raises on a regular basis.
Another reason is because some of these people are over
80 yrs.old & I think they are so used to living the overblown life
style, that they are out of touch with what's going on with the
average citizen.

TERM LIMITS ARE A MUST! THEY SHOULD BE LIMITED TO 2 TERMS OR BETTER YET JUST ONE! THE ADVANTAGE IS LIMITED SPECIAL INTEREST ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE AND BETTER POLITICS IN GENERAL! NOBODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO RETIRE FROM THERE WITH A SALARY. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS LIKE THE FOX GUARDING THE HEN HOUSE!

Ideal would be not more than 2 consecutive terms. This will resolve so many issues.
