Depends on the character as well as the actors fan base and how much they are associated with that role...but it can be done..and a few may have greater success in the role...but I also think it has to do with if they physically resemble the other actor or not...yep you are right...we know better and sometimes it can be an insult to the viewers.

Yeah, you are right. It is kinda dumb. They should do what they did with Spin City and just hire someone different. That works better.
It got Charlie Sheen pretty popular on TV. Now he has his own show 2 and 1/2 men. Funny show.
