1) How great was his twisting td catch last night?
2) Where would you rank him among active wideouts (present value)?
3) How would you rank him among all-time wide receivers?

(It's nice to throw some applause his way, when he is both overshadowed by his own qb, as well as by flashier, more obnoxious, egomaniac receivers in today's game who have not the talent, production or class of Marvin.)

Chicago,

I like your answer, and re: Don Hutson, he must've been a legendary, and revolutionary player, but your anser caused me to look up his stats:

He actually averaged about 69 yards/game in reception -- great for that era, but far short of the number you posted.

Oh boy I love to rate players. Great questions:
1) That was the most frickin' amazing ENDZONE catch ever. Now I have seen better catches in the field of play the last month (a la Torry Holt) but that showed the great concentration that Mr. Harrison has. 1 to 10: 9 1/2.
2) Active wideouts. Huh. Yeah I got this. Number 4. Holt, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, and then Harrison in that order. TO may have been 4 but we never know what is going on in those team meetings.
3) When I rank someone to players of the past, I completely forget about the players that are in his time. So Harrison will basically be representing the present. Best receiver of all-time, hands down, Don Hutson of the Packers in the '40s and 50's. When you average 149 yards receiving a game in your career, that is freaking amazing. I would procede down the list to greats like Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch, Harlon Hill, Lynn Swann, Fred Bilentnikoff and so on. I think Harrison would land somewhere in the later 20s. By the end of his career, maybe the teens. But there are just too many great receivers in NFL history.

Harrison is one of the classiest players in the league today as you have mentioned. But his numbers speak for him. When you catch 100 TD passes from one quarterback in 7-8 years with him, you have something wrong with you. 'Twill never be matched. Fitzgerald will score as many TDs as Marvin (maybe more), but he is stuck in that football pit of hell the football gods blessed us with called the Arizona Cardinals. Way to go, Marvin! Keep up the good work!

That catch was straight up bananas. I have to place him at the top of the current receivers. He is almost the antithesis of traditional receivers; he's quiet, he doesn't dance or celebrate, he just does his job. Sure he has Peyton Manning, but when Manning lets loose a poor throw Harrison usually comes up with it, and nobody is better at catching the fade in the end zone. It's hard to give him an all time rank because it's a different game today. I'll just say Jerry Rice was never as explosive as Harrison and if Marvin can maintain the longevity the Jerry did he will be setting plenty of records.

Yeah he is still a great Wideout even though he is a little older and I hate to say maybe past his prime. Honestly I say hes in the top three or four in active at the present day. Thats as for skill. Now for overall I think he is awsome for the fact that he has a great QB in Manning and Wayne as another wideout. But hes not like some other players who want more passes and most of all money. Hes payed about average for a wideout in the NFL even though in my opinion hes far above average. And you hear about T.O. complaining or "Ocho Cinco" wanting the ball more. He is a great player but the only problem is the game has changed from the hardknock run game to the quick fast pass game. So the legendary Recivers Like Rice and Harrison arnt easy to compair.

Hey I'm a Colts fan too! I'm very surprised Marvin Harrison's name has come up in a bar fight, shooting, or whatever! I don't like to judge anyone until all the information is given to me yet on the other hand I won't pardon him just because he plays for the Colts.

I was at the game and his catch was really good. Presently he is in the top 3 in the league, and all time he is top 10.

That was an amazing catch last nite....
Currently (with all due respect) he is not even the best WR on his own team. However, as far as all time goes I rank him 2nd behind Jerry Rice..........

I didn't see it...
He's #1 on my list, because he has abilities that no other WR has right now, and he's a major contributor on the best team in the league.
He's in my top 10
