Yes, it would look tacky (which is putting it mildly to say the least.)And yes, people wouldn't take you seriously.
But somehow I think that may be the look you want based on how you worded your question. It sounds like you want to be funny and/or have a joke here.
So go with your orange tux, and make some people smile. Or be traditional, and wear a black tux, but add the orange with a shirt, tie, or vest.
At least it's the right time of year to wear orange :-)

Timothy, first of all the verb is wore an orange tux,
whore is a lady of the night....and maybe you don't feel comfortable and that's called a slip of the tongue.
Think of people you admire on tv awards, doesn't a 3-piece dark suit look just as magnificant as a tux...or almost....
Now think - do you want to look awesome or......yikes!

Wellllllllll, if you want to look like an orange go ahead but if it is an award that you are nominated for then there is a chance that you will go up with an acceptance speech right? You would want people to take you seriously. I would go with a black tux.

If you are wearing it to an award ceremony you won't be taken seriously. Orange is a very unusual color for a tux and it would probably look tacky. You would be better to stick to black or white.

While waiting today I read a couple of PEOPLE magazines. Best dressed issue was one. None of the men had an orange Tux! But what ever make you happy!

It depends on the shade of orange you are going with. If it's a bright pumpkin orange, I would say it's a bit over the top. However, if it's a deeper orange that would be closer to a rust color, then it might just look really edgy. Remember that while you are trying to make a statement, you want to make sure the statement is a good one. Use your best judgment and if you like it, then go ahead and be bold!

Wear a nice black tux with white. Its classic and you will look fabulous. Orange tuxedos are old fashioned and out of style.
