Most of the stores will be closed. You're best bet is going to watch a movie at the theaters because they'll be open.

No, it's a national holiday. Sometimes, stores has shopping hours in the morning to accommodate cooks that need something or has an emergency for their Thanksgiving dinner, and some stores open later at night to prepare for or to get a head-start on Black Friday--the single biggest shopping day--but rarely do you see a store opened all day on Thanksgiving; clerks have families, too.
Usually, holiday hours will be posted at the store at question. If you can't find the notice, ask a clerk or call the store for their particular Thanksgiving hours (some stores close early that Wednesday, so knowing is power).

Depends on where you live. I don't know if this is a joke question or not; but where have you been on this holiday that you feel the need to post this questino on Yahoo Answers? Does your family lock you in a sound proof closet on Thanksgiving Day???
In my area, Kmart, Walmart, movie theatres, gas stations, and convenience stores are open.

I would say that most aren´t open. My hometown is usually a ghost town on Thanksgiving.

Nearly all stores are closed except convenince stores. But movie theaters are open and hardly anyone is there if you hate going with crowds.

walmart is the only thing that i know is open!!some other stores and things are open but only for alittle while they usually close early!!walmart will be open all day!
