Go out and do things with friends. If your friends suggest an activity and it doesn't sound like a bad idea, then accept the invitation. Otherwise, think of an activity and suggest it to a friend. Just go for it even though you feel unsure about the activity. Go skiing, hiking, dancing, golf, drinks, movie, shopping, concert, campus party, etc. Join a club and get involved. Make friends and then make sure you maintain contact. Once your life is filled with friends, you will be super busy and you will no longer be a loner.

Depending on what kind of friends you're trying to make. Perhaps you could meet some adults who you'd have some things in common at a community children's event. Making new acquaintances isn't always easy, and don't be discouraged if your first impressions aren't correct. Be patient and eager, it takes time. Good friendships take time to cultivate, but are well worth it.

Haven't you bonded with anyone at college? Honey, you have got to start living for you. Of course it is wonderful when you see your children, but darling you have got to start enjoying your life.
Why are you a loner? Shy? Don't trust? Don't want to be hurt?
Life has no guarantee, as you know. But, we don't stop loving because our first lost is no more or our parents is no more. Life is worth living so live it and love it.

Have a new life, try something different, change your daily activities, be open to meeting new people, and don't exempt your children in your new life, they could make up part of the big picture, cheers
