My friend had the same problem recently, but reversed. She wanted to get her tubes tied. She's 25 and has a daughter. She went to 3 different doctors and all of them told her no. She does not want any more kids and had to settle for an IUD. I think it's rediculous that they won't neuter people who want it. I understand that there's a chance you could change your mind in the future, but you can always adopt. I don't get it and she doesn't either. Good luck finding a doctor who will do it.

I think with any major surgery a Dr. should go over the pros and cons with their patient. I think if a young man under the age of 30 were to ask for a vasectomy, I think other birth control might be offered.
Not everyone is meant to have kids, but what if the patient changed their mind in a few years?
My brother is 38 and his wife are expecting their first child- If you asked him 5 years ago, he would have said never ever do I want a kid.......but guess what? Circumstances did change, he met a wonderful lady and they got married. He is the one who pushed to have a baby. Men change their minds too!

not true. in california, a dr will not perform a vasectomy on a man under the age of 27 or 28...not sure which age. i know this because my 25 yr old son went to a dr and was told he had to wait. nobody can force you to father a child before they'll allow you to have a vasectomy.

Are you kidding me?!?! Well, thats insane, and completely untrue, unless you have a dr that has a policy. A vasectomy is most commonly used by men who don't want ANYMORE kids, but if a man chooses to have it before he has kids, then I can't imagine him being turned down. And it can always be reversed.

There is no law. You may have a vasectomy whenever you like. If a doc refuses for his/her own personal reasons, go to another doc.

I don't believe there are any laws pertaining to it. I know that they don't give them to anyone under the age 21 unless there are special reasons why they arent having kids. Its the same with women and tubal ligations.

No law but something you need to seriously consider before making that kind of decision as it is expensive to reverse IF it's even possible.

most doctors will not perform one on you unless you're married and your wife signs ths consent forms because lot of doctors have been sued by wives that came along after the surgery was performed..lot of people got the ideal that the surgery is reversable but its not in most cases. i know because i got one

I am not sure if it is a law but most doctors won't do it if you don't have any kids because it is hard to reverse if you change your mind later.

I've never heard of that. I think they frown upon it just in case you change your mind. They aren't always reversable, but no, there can't be a "law" against it. It's a personal decision.
