I think this is a genre that often gets overlooked but there are some great movies based on Wars, real or fictional. I prefer movies based on real wars, but what is your favorite? Any type of war movie counts.

1982's World War III

Russia is in a grain embargo by the US after their actions in Afghanistan. The US refuses to lift it and Russia is in serious political problems over it.

So to force the US to lift the embargo a secret operation (non governmented ran) is ran and a small Special forces unit goes into alaska and threatens to cut the pipe line if they dont lift the embargo.
Standing in their way is a undermaned, very under ammoed, national guard unit lead by a colonel who finds out what is going on, tries to get help, which due to weather wont be anytime soon, and must try to stop the attack.

My favorite war movies are actually television miniseries, THE WINDS OF WAR, which is continued in WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, this is a WWII miniseries, and also NORTH AND SOUTH, a Civil War Miniseries.

These both have great acting and realistic scenes. Check them out!
