I think a lot more is contributed to that. I think the fact that there are a lot more people in the world gives a hand in the greater number of raped and molested people and children. I think that these people getting away with it because they are 'sick' lends a hand because others think they can get away with it too. I think that they media and the Internet makes us more aware of the different cases, where 50 years ago it wasn't even discussed (and if you did bring it up your parents would most likely tell you to not tell anyone what Uncle Bob did to you). I do think that the Internet has opened a new door for these pedophiles and rapists though. But it's up to us to teach our children how to handle themselves on the Internet.

My son is very away of the dangers of pedophiles. I taught him at a very young age what people are capable of, without making him paranoid, and I know I can trust him to make good decisions on the Internet and MySpace, etc. Though I do still monitor the goings on, and he doesn't mind one bit. He knows it's not him I'm monitoring, it's the potentially harmful people that may see him as easy pray I'm looking out for.

yes, because before the internet people that raped and molested actually had to get off their a.ss to find their victims. Now they can sit at home in their dirty bathrobes strolling through all the sites in their homes. It's like a buffet for the molestors/rapists.
