I cant get my sprocket off my quad ??

How can I get the front sprocket off my quad everytime i try even when it is in gear the thing still twists so i cant get it off it like turns the motor.

--Put the chain back on the quad.
--Apply the R brake - that will keep the F sprocket from turning.
