3300+ is an entry level (by todays standards) processor from AMD ... they make 5000+ processors now
By entry level I mean not very powerful ... but depending on your needs it may work perfectly well ... e.g. it would have no problems with office applications or CD burning

Ok. A 3300 Ghtz also know as a 3.3 Ghtz processor is a pretty big processor. And that number means performance and speed of the whole computer. (make sure with such a machine you have lot's of RAM and a good video card: at least 128 Mb)

Now, a Ghtz is like an oscillation...So a 3.3 Ghtz will oscillates 3 billion, 300 million times per second....Fast? indeed...

That is the rated speed for an amd processor. the actual clock speed is probably around 2ghz or 2000. AMD promotes their processors based on their rated speed. They do this because their architecture allows their processor to do more work per clock cycle then the intel processors. So basically what the 3300+ number represents is the assertion that the processor will operate at a rate similar to an intel processor rated at 3300 or 3.3 Ghz

Thatsimply a labeling technique by AMD that allows you to identify which processor it is. Instead of saying "AMD socket 939 Athlon 64 2.4GHz" (not sure of exact speeds) you can just say "AMD Athlon 64 3300+" and it makes it understandable to anyone who has memorized the numbers (not many) and those who can look it up quickly to know what the other person to understand. Intel uses a similar technique, "Intel Pentium 4 521", the 521 being the ID #.

It means that it's a very quick computer when it's all working well. It's referring to the processing speed that the computer is capable of performing it's duties and 3300+ is plenty fast for most situations. Great question. Larry RadioShack 01-9590
