get some drywall mud, it comes in a small can get a putty knife take some mud on your knife lay it flat on the wall by the hole and rake it across the hole to fill it. you may have to do it a few times be sure to keep the knife flat. let it dry then sand and paint. if you have texture on your walls you can buy that in a spray can.

joint compound or spackling for a small amount.
Take a putty knife and put the compound on it, hold it at a 45 degree angle and go over the hole forcing the compound into the hole. just smooth as best you can. Let it dry. Then youcan sand it or take a damp sponge and smooth it out. Apply another coat as necessary (shrinkage) then smooth again after dry.
Very simple.

home centers sell patch kits that can do that for you pretty easily. they have a mesh patch, putty, a spreader, and a few other things.
you will probably want to sand and paint afterward, but the whole project should be less than $50 dollars, and only take a few hours here and there (drying time).

If it were me personally........I would fill the holes with caulk and smooth them over.I do repairs in preparation for painting frequently and use this method.It is a lot less costly and messy! Good luck..........

you might first have to stuff paper into the hole to block it.use joint compound fill in the hole.let set up then lightly sand.
