I wanted to unlock the mermaid, Leia or whatever her name was. I need to befriend Daryl by getting 100 FP or something, but I don't know what that is and how to get it.

FP are friend points. you can get a bangle to make friend points visible from the casino.
in order to get into daryl's basement, you have to be good friends with him. i'm sure you've gone into the lab, and no one was in there. daryl was in the basement, that's why you were able to get into the building.
an easy way to get friend points is by showing him your dog or cat. over and over again. unlike other objects, after the third time, showing a pet will keep on giving friend points
