It is really hard to say because they don't know what causes it. There is a real good article in Discovery magazine this month on Cancer. It is rather techie but it gives a lot of answers and it opens up more questions. Check it out.

I wouldnt if I were you start stressing over it as there may not be any need to. Just because your grandmother had breast cancer it does not mean that you are going to get it to but I do strongly advise you to get regular mammograms, as this will help.

keep doin self - examinations. AND make SURE u GO TO THE DOCTOR regualry. i know that even if u do self checks, u cant always tell cause they can be deep lumps. I know from a friends mom. And to answer your quesion, u do have a higher chance than the average people. So keep checking, and go to the doctor.

It does increase your chances..do self exams every month and get a M.D.s exam and a mamogram every year. If you have others than your garndmother, ie mother, sister, cousins..that will increase your risk even more..good luck....

Get regular mammograms. It's not as bad as if it was your mother (like me), but keep an eye on it. And don't take hormones like Premarin.
