I'm looking in to buy one. I heard of the shuffle ipod and the ipod nano but what do each do differently?

good question. i have the ipod video. it is more money about 3 hundred. the nano is a small version and doesn't have video and the shuffle i think can only play radio. most ipods has you know are able to fit about 1,000 to 3,000 songs on there. i would get the ipod video. it has everything. video, fits 3,000 songs, games, stopwatch, etc. the only thing is that it is bigger.

shuffle, you cant pick the song, can be 512 MB capacity or 1 gig, both below 100. nano is small, can be 1 G, 2G, 4G, or 8G. all below 300, can pick the song. they were just recently redone, so they last 24 hours on one charge. theres also the video - can be 30G or 60G. each 250 and over. they can play movies, and anything that has to do with video. they are bigger than nanos, and only last 14 hours w/ music, if ur playing a video it lasts less cuz ur using more of the backlight to play it.
my son recommends the 4 G nano, cuz theyre gonna remake the video soon, so it should last until it comes out.

okay there are three kinds.
Video - holds more songs and videos but it's also the biggest in size. It has a screen.
Nano - medium size, made of metal, holds less songs than the video and more than the shuffle. it does not hold videos and it does have a screen.
Shuffle - smallest size. smaller than a pack of gum. it doesn't have a screen and it holds the least amount of music.
The cheapest is the shuffle, the most expensive is the video and ther nano is in between.

I would get a Creative, b/c with ipods you can only put there format of songs in it. I have a Creative and all the songs I ever downloaded I put right on it, I didn't have to convert any of them. My bro got an ipod nano for Xmas and he hates it.
