it it window's 2000 i think. or 98 and it shut down! it stopped working. it's been like 2.5 years and i still have it. why did it stop working? what can i do?

1. I would check all the cables connections and be sure it is plugged in to a power surger that is working. The end of the power cable that is connected to the puter may be loose. This is a problem with my puter when i move it. If you never defragged or if you have a virus may cause it to not start.
2. If nothing happens and you cannot get it to at least turn on then you will need to get it serviced.. But if you can get power to the puter but you still cannot log on then try the restore disk... insert into the cd rom drive turn off computer then restart.

forget about it or reinstall the operating system. It's possible the power supply went bad. You can easily replace this. Go to a Frys or other local computer supplied and ask for a new power supply.

It really sounds like the power supply failed.
