On the AOL software I think its under Help and support-> Billing-> Canceling AOL account. It should tell you somewhere
To cancel your AOL account please call 1-800-xxx-xxxx
(they change the number regularly if alot of people cancel AOL I wonder why.)
They also have a fax machine number 1-800-xxx-xxxx that you can send in your information.
Provide your Username:
Street Address:
Billing Methond: (creditcard, phonebill) That should work
How long you had it.
If you do cancel do not sign in or they will think your lying. Whatever you do Do NOT use the account for anything after you select cancel or they will assume you were lying. Create a new AIM or something and move all your friends there.
I send a fax to cancel my account after seeing this on teh today show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmpDSBAh6RY

Call them and be insistent. AOL has a history of doing anything to keep from losing accounts.

Yes, Call them to cancel and after a long conversation if they confirm it is canceled. Don't be surprised if you get a bill for not using AOL.

Good luck to you.
I hear AOL is the hardest company to get out of.
They'll "process" your cancellation, but mysteriously continue to bill your credit card or bank account.
I've heard of people who had to close bank accounts in order to get the automatic debits to stop.
Its just what I hear, please don't sue me, AOL...
