I want to have some stuffing for Thanksgiving. My friends are bringing the turkey and all the other trimmings, but I am in charge of the stuffing. I searchd the websites for a decent/easy recipe. Do you recommend any easy recipe? if not, where can i order/buy stuffing? in Southern California? I heard that some markets will have them (Albertsons...) are they worth it?

The recipes are right on the box of stuffing mixes. I always used Mrs. Cubbingson's. If you use Stove Top, add extra water because the mix tends to cook up a bit on the dry side. And use real butter.
I added chopped onion and celery to Mrs. Cubbingson's and I like their croutons, which look more home made and also pre-seasoned (yum).
Like the others say, Boston Market, other restaurants like Marie Callendar's may sell stuffing to go.

If you feel up to the challenge, here is a stuffing that is very different from the traditional bread stuffing, much healthier, and waaaaaayyyyy more delicious!

Sweet Potato Stuffing


Number of Servings: 8 Prep Time: 1 1/2 hrs Skill Level: Average

Ingredients:
½ cup raisins
2 cups canned sweet potatoes, diced
2 cups cornbread, crumbled
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Soak raisins in hot water for 1 hour.
3. Mix all ingredients together. Put into greased casserole dish.
4. Cover, and bake until heated through. Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes to brown top.

I'm going to make a suggestion for you on that pre-cooked Turkey. When you pick it up the day before, when you get ready to warm it up the day of Thanksgiving, all you are going to do it warm it up so you're going to use a low oven temperature. Go to the grocery store and get yourself some of the Reynolds Wrap Oven Roasting Bags. They make a turkey size. Take that bag and put 6 tablespoons of flour in it (that keeps the bag from bursting - read the package it will explain this part to you) put the turkey in that bag and then warm up the turkey on a 300 degree temperature (pre-heat your office) and I would say it's going to take about an hour until you have it warm to serve. That oven bag will keep it from drying out. Now, if there's stuffing inside the bird, give it another 1/2 hour (so a total of 1 1/2 hours) to get the entire thing warm again. Those oven bags are wonderful for keeping them moist. Well, good luck...you'll be fine.

Buy some Stove Top ahead of time...try it...if you like it bring that. It's really good. If you want to doctor it up a bit you can boil some turkey necks with some seasoning and use that to moisten the stuffing and you can also cut up bits of the meat and mix it in the stuffing.

Boston Market. or get a box of chicken stuffing mix. Put 2 cups of water in a pan with 2 boullion cubes (chicken) and one minced onion. Wait for the cubes to dissinagrate and then put the stuffing in the broth & onions. Mix and then put in a bread pan, brush on a little melted butter on the top and then cover with tin foil and cook in oven for an hour. If you need to keep it in the oven longer, put a little mxture of butter and water ( maybe 2 tablespoons of each, melt butter though) and top off breading and recover. Turn the temp down too.
That will keep it moist. Happy Thanksgiving.

One year I ruined my stuffing and all I had was Stove Top. I was embarassed to serve it, but I didn't have time to go to the store so I made it, and I *think* I might've added some chopped celery and onion. Anyway my relatives kept complimenting me, and asked me how I made it, lol. They didn't know it was Stove Top til I told em (I usually use Mrs Cubbison's stuffing). Other things you can add are cranberries, walnuts, or black olives (my mom likes chopped green chilis in her stuffing). Not nescessarily all those ingredients, but add whatever sounds good to give it a homemade touch. Stuffing is pretty easy. Good luck.

at thanksgiving you can get turkey and all the trimmings at any grocery store!i know for a fact that krogers and walmart will make anything that you want..just make sure and find out ahead of time how early you need to order it so that it can be done on time!!

Do you have a Boston Market near where you live? You may want to check them out.

Also try Williams-Sonoma. They have a bag of croutons, etc. for stuffing. It is probably very good.

Most restaurants and many grocery stores will prepare food for you. Ask at your favorite restaurant or grocery store.
