They can but will they? In a word, NO. When Charles Woodson won it, he played offense and returned kicks. There is no one of his caliber in NCAA Football this year. It will be a QB this year. Troy Smith has it to lose right now. But he still has to beat Michigan to me for him to lock it up.

The Heisman is supposed to go to the best college football player. The only defensive player to win the award was Charles Woodson of Michigan.

any player that plays on the football team in NCAA has a chance to win the Heismen Memorial Award. Defence, offence, special teams anyone. But it is mostly a Quarterback, Runningback, or reciever that wins it.

Not in a world with Troy Smiths, Teddy Ginns and Brady Quinns. A DL has 0% chance no matter what. A LB or DB would have to have, like, 24 Interceptions, 22 sacks, 13 forced fumbles and 19 Defensive touchdowns . . . AND THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
