George Washington successfully crossed the whole Revolutionary Army across the Deleware River.

This was during the winter, during a war, The Revolutionary War.

They were carrying guns and cannons that weighed from 400 pounds to 1000 pounds. They lost quite a few people. But it's one of George's major accomplishments. Because of that river-crossing we won the Revolutionary War, and are forever-more free from Britain!

LONG LIVE GEORGE! ok, it's a little late for that...

became a great hero to the people of Virginia, because he did a good job dilivering a message to the French (to tell them that they had to leave what was supposed to be American territory in the New World).... later he became a great hero to all thirteen original states (led the first battle against the French, which they lost), because he helped beat the French as an officer during the French and Indian War.
