My favorite band, Tool, is soooo underated. Most people i talk to either haven't heard of them, or say "there alright i guess".
How can u not love a band with maynard's lyrics and rifs, with Danney Carey's intensley awesome drumming backing it up?
Any other tool fans out there? if so, wuts ur favorite song?

i so agree!!! TOOL is so genius that it is worshipworthy. I absolutely adore all of their music, but my favorites have to be Parabol/Parabola and Lateralus. im really getting into 10,000days/wings for marie. Eulogy is also such an intense song, so great. danny carey is astonishing to say the least. how can any human with just 2 arms do what he does?? and maynard's voice is so raw, so strong.
IMHO i think that underratedness is caused by little exposure, and fan ignorance. there are a lot of dumb people out there.
other bands i find to be treated unratedly - Porcupine Tree, Faith No More, Opeth, dredg.

there are hundreds of underrated bands.
why? lot of reasons- cant get sponsorship, little or no airplay. some bands music just does not lend itself well to radio. It doesnt mean they suck - its just maybe thier songs are too long, too violent or objectionable in some way or another or maybe a band puts out a decent cd
but cant follow up. a band puts out too many crappy cd's
and fans start to lose interest

Well Rap and Hip Hop rule the music world these days. That could be a reason why bands are underrated.

tOOL IS GOOD! Tragically Hip are under rated as well.
