Don't worry about that. Learn the basics, when you get there, you'll learn everything you need to know.

French language is very hard and has no logic most of the time. You can take a little book with everyday phrases in French with you (including the pronounciation) and if you let the language enter your brain during your trip (people, TV, radio, etc) it will help you a lot !

PS: Parisian are as rude as NewYorkers, I would say ever worse, just be prepared !

Get a subscription to Rosetta Stone. It's about $90 for three months, and it's an excellent program.
