The Earth's atmosphere does NOT end at 100 km: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth%27s_atmosphere

I don't have an exact numbner of miles up from earth, but I have an interesting factoid to make a comparison between the size of Earth and the depth of its atmosphere.
