These numbers are cubes. 1 cubed (1 x 1 x 1) is 1, 2 cubed (2 x 2 x 2) is 8, 3 cubed (3 x 3 x 3) is 27, and 4 (4 x 4 x 4) cubed is 64. Therefore, the next number is 125 or 5 cubed (5 x 5 x 5). This pattern continues with 6 cubed, 7 cubed, etc.
