Rub a drop or two of essential oil into the candle before you use it each time. Or better yet, light the candle. Let it burn until a pool of wax forms. Extinguish the candle. Put a drop or two of essential oil into the wax pool. Light the candle again.

Try this in a safe place, first! A drop or two of essential oil should not blow up in your face, but it may cause the flame to burn higher, brighter or with more soot than it does usually.

Personally, though, I prefer those little ceramic pots with tea candles that lets you warm the essential oil (or potpourri) gently.
