That other question made me think. Remember Red Dawn? Be honest. I would.

Hey! Every guy dreams about being in that cheesy movie situation ;-) It brings out that primal survival instinct, and test of character.

Sorry I didn't go into detail about what I saw in my minds eye. I am 13 and I don't underatand what is happening. I only see my family angry and tense all the time. I see my father killed. I won't understand why. I go with my brothers and I seek revenge. That is what I saw. I was just being honest. If it was an accident and I was happy to have troops setting me free I would not do it. Thatis not always the case. It is a different world over there. I am not making excuses. It is the reality.

Well it like this ........... If my relative was a drug dealer gunned down by a rival gang , would I get arrested and go to jail if caught avenging his death .
SO I have to weight what my relative was doing when he was killed .
Why was my country invaded ? Was my relative somehow responsible for his own death ? Was the invasion part of an effort by others to defend themselves ?
There is much to consider before one takes an others life .
If given the chance to think and deliberate on the matter In 99.999% of the cases I would not .
Now standing right there at the moment and being in a position to retaliate immediately then I would but only as a matter of reflex and not thought .
Taking a live is wrong no matter what the reason might be .
Two sides to ever coin and maybe its possible that the people who attacked my relative did so to protect themselves .
Good luck figuring out what you would do in a case like you described.

Everything in your world is simple, black and white - no mitigating circumstances to muddle up the problem?
What if the "occupying country" disposed of a murdering despot and his demented sons?
What if they finally answered your questions about what happened to your loved ones by uncovering mass graves?
What if your choice was an "occupying country" or a dirt bag leader that gasses his own people and murders indiscriminately for mere criticism?
What if the "occupying country" gave you the opportunity to vote and form a government that answers to the people instead of the other way around?
What if the "occupying country" spent billions of dollars rebuilding your infrastructure; new schools, hospitals and roads and bridges, etc..?
Just what if..............
The answer isn't so easy, is it?

No. However given a Red Dawn scenario, I might be in the resistance fighting for my own reasons.

i don't like to admit this, as i believe that revenge is pointless...but, my first instinct would be to use any means at my disposal to track down the sonsa#####es who killed my loved one(s) and take them out...period.

It would depend on why (s)he died. Blanketing it in general way makes it too much of an entrapment question.
