I just had my baby 3 weeks ago...and I am still bleeding. I had an infection a week and a half after she was born in my uterus...is this the infection not having cleared up or is this normal to still bleeding this long after? When does it finally go away?

First off, congratulations on a new baby they are wonderful! I had my baby 3 and 1/2 months ago. I bled for about 4 weeks. If it is still as heavy as the day you gave birth or day after you should call your ob-gyn. You may be doing too much and that is why you are bleeding. I never had an infection so I'm not sure about that one. I would definitely call your ob-gyn though if the bleeding is still heavy, at least heavier then a normal period for you.

If you are worried I would call your Dr just to let them know what is going on but it is normal. I bleed for the full 6 weeks after I had a c-section the last week and half it was very light and could not really tell that much but it lasted for 6 weeks and it has been 3 months now and I have not had a period since.

My bleeding went away after 6 weeks with the first and 5 weeks with the second. Totally normal to bleed for that long (although 6 weeks is the upper end of the threshold).

I bled for about 7 1/2 weeks, maybe a little over. Toward the end, though, at least it wasn't gushing like it was in the beginning. It can also come and go for a couple of weeks after. My doctor said as long as I wasn't bleeding through a large hospital pad per hour, it was fine.

I bled for about 6 weeks afterwards with all 3 of my babies. Its normal. Some bleed a long time, some dont. As soon as I was done bleeding from the birth, I started my period!! It was terrible.

Yes, it's normal to still be bleeding. I just had a baby 2 months ago. The flow would go from light to heavier back to light again. But to be certain that it's not from the infection, why don't you call your physician. Better to be safe than sorry!

With both my daughters, I was bleeding for 3 and 1/2 to 4 weeks. I know it differs from person to person, but check to see if you have a fever, thats a way to see if your infection has went away. I would wait another week and then call my ob/gyn or midwife.
