Kobe had an offseason arthroscopic knee surgery. It wasn't anything too serious. It was done right after the end of last season, and was the reason why he didn't play in the world FIBA tournament with the rest of USA. He didn't play just as a precautionary measure.

Kobe missed the first 2 games because he had knee surgery and he was trying to heal from it...but when they played Seattle, he played, and he scored 23 in the Lakers' win

Kobe Bryant is playing, but he happened to miss all of the preseason and the first to games of the season because of arthroscopic knee surgery during summer. He is now back and he has plaed twice already.

He had knee surgery during the off season and is not 100% but can play he did the 3rd and fourth game this season and did okay.

#24.... his knee was the problem. He was recovering from knee surgery... there just waiting to make sure that he was healthy to play.
