why don't you get over the fact that they cant get over your dwelling on slavery, and just keep dwelling...in silence!

Surely I missed out on all the good stuff - because I am white and didn't realize that I wasn't over you fascination with slavery and your desire to dwell on it. I agree that those who do not want to learn from the past are crazy - because they will be doomed to its failures and not its successes if they ignore where we have already trod. I know I cannot be accused, even though I am a true southern or more true hillbilly girl - as my heritage is native american and German and I do not desire to own others in any form or fashion nor do I desire to be owned. Which in great reality is the lesson we should glean from the auspices of slavery - be it the slavery of our country or the slavery of any country - people should be granted the freedoms of individuality and the pursuit of their own employment and means of living. We should not be bought, sold, and traded or bartered as mere possessions. Thank you for such an interesting topic, so seldom found anymore in which to give an honest response too.

why are you fascinated with "Dwelling"?
And because someone doesn't "Dwell" on the past means they aren't progressing?
I'm sorry Brother, and I use the term loosely. You should reexamine your views. Oh' and you should think about your word choice.
I don't dwell on slavery, I've learned my history and I choose to move forward not backward.

There's a major difference between 'dwelling on slavery' and 'learning from the past'. And don't generalize us saying 'white people', my aunt happens to be a historian whose focus is on slavery in America and she is quite white.

Nobody is going to buy your CD Charlie. And few care if you like dwelling on slavery like me, either.

But slavery was fascinating I agree.

What fascinates you about slavery? Have you read many books about it? Have you considered seeking out colleges or universities that offer classes in this subject?

You may get more out of those classes than this venue.

You can dwell on the past all you want. that still does not make ME responsible for what some ignorant people did hundreds of years ago, and it does not make YOU any less of a bigot!

Why can't YOU get over it. You weren't there. I am German descent, but all of my relatives were in the US before the Holocaust. African tribes conquered other tribes & made slaves out of the people they conquered. They also sold their slaves to the whites in the slave ships. Slavery didn't start with white folks in the US. Egyptians had slaves, who built the pyramids. Romans had slaves. Do I need to go on?

I'm white and some of my ancestors were slaves and no they weren't African. Stop whining and realize that Africans were not the only people ever to be enslaved.

PS Where's my reparation check?
