Ask about a week ahead of time! We have to have time to call all of our friends and spread the news, pick out an outfit, and dream. Allow as many days as possible!

I used to go out with this guy who always made last minute arrangements. Like, he'll ask me on thursday night for a friday date, and on friday for a saturday date... you get the idea. At first it was alright and i didn't see anything wrong with it, but after a while, I felt that he wasn't being very sincere, and like i was his last choice; a backup date for him even, when he could not find anyone else to go out with. He expects me to cancel whatever plans that i have made just to go out with him although he asked real late.
If a guy really likes a girl, he'd be excited to take her out and would've made arrangements at least a few days ahead and book her in advance. I mean, someone else could've asked her out already if you asked her only the day before.
So my advise is, probably 2 or 3 days ahead.
I dumped the jerk btw ;-)

It depends on when you plan on going out. You want it to not be too far away, because that just shows too much planning and lack of spontaneity, but you also want to make sure its late enough so it doesn't seem like she just talked to you. Tuesday or Wednesday is good for friday usually. Wednesday or thurs is good for sat.

You better ask around Wednesday, Because if she is really excited about going out with you she will want to prepare herself for you and that takes alot of planning. What to wear,etc.. Girls don't like last minute dates, but we will go on them if we are anxious about the guy involved. So either way if she wants to go out on a date with you, you can be assured it won't matter when you ask... good luck... have a nice time...

Thursday is a good day because if you plan ahead it shows the girl that you are serious and you are for real. planning ahead is the best thing. Call her on the phone when you ask her out.

at least 4-5 days. if you want to go out on friday or saturday ask her out no later than monday

Give her a bit more notice. Ask on Wednesday. Thursday is cutting it close. I know that by Thursday I usually have my weekend all planned.

Any day! What a great way to make a Monday seem less cruddy, or if it's Tuesday or Wed. she can have something to look forward to all week!
Be sure to give her advanced notice, that way if she's busy or something comes up you guys can reschedule.
