Between being alone and being lonely, do you think?
Is there a difference, and what is it?

Well being alone means you're by yourself . Being lonely means you have no one to share life with and you start to think you're not good enough...and you start to have douts about yourself which can lead to depression..So being alone is having no one but being content I guess , being lonely is a feeling of there is no one out there for you. I guess you could say being lonely is like an emptyness or void in ones soul.

The differance is that being alone means there is no one around you. being lonely means you have no one to love to take care of or someone to take care of you. You could be alone at a time and still not be lonely because you have the love of someone you hold dear.

I know this very well because I have a lot of experience with these states of being.

For example, being alone, reading a book - I am happy and content to enjoy the act of reading alone and I want to be alone so I can do this.

For example, being lonely - I am alone and I don't want to be alone. I want someone to talk to, someone to understand how I am feeling, what happened to me today.

The states of being are completely different - to sum up:

Being alone can be an enjoyable, satisfying experience and being lonely is like a hunger, craving, desire for connection with people.

THE DIFFERENCE IS IN YOUR OWN HAPPINESS. I enjoy being alone at times. I Love my partner and we raised 5 kids, so lonliness hasn't been a problem for a long time.
