I am putting together an event, and need the outdoor area lit well enough for my guests to see, I was told I need a 2000 watt light, and it comes with a stand. Does this make sense?

That's one heck of a light. At 110 volts, it would require 18 amps, which means DON'T try to use an extension cord!

You would be better served with strings of white christmas type lights. Unless you are expecting your guests to be able to read, you don't really need more lighting than that. We pulled off our daughters wedding this summer in our back yard. Lighting was done with six strings of Xmas lights, and it set a mood that was perfect (in my picky daughter's opinion, even). Plenty enough light for people to eat a sit-down supper, converse and enjoy themselves.

I don't know, but it might be helpful to understand that wattage is not additive in seperate bulbs: 80 bulbs of 25 watts will not be as bright as the single 2000 watt bulb.

Is it possible to try out the lighting beforehand?

Has anyone doene this before that you could ask?

Good Luck!
